Certificate 3 Guarantee

The Certificate 3 Guarantee supports eligible individuals to complete their first Certificate III qualification and increase their skills to move into employment, re-enter the workforce or advance their career.

SERO Institute is an approved pre-qualified supplier (PQS) delivering a range of qualifications funded by Queensland Government under Queensland Department of Education and Trainings VET Investment Plan

To be eligible to enrol in the Certificate 3 Guarantee, prospective students must:

  • be aged 15 years or older
  • be no longer at school (with exception of students in years 10, 11 and 12 undertaking VET in School (VETiS) program – see the VETiS fact sheet for more information)
  • permanently reside in Queensland
  • be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen
  • not hold or be enrolled in, a certificate III or higher-level qualification, not including qualifications completed at school and foundation skills training.

Employment status does not matter – a participant can be unemployed and seeking work, or working on a full-time, part-time or on a casual basis.

Higher Level Funding

The Higher Level Skills program provides eligible individuals with access to a subsidised training place in selected Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) certificate IV and above qualifications. Or priority skill sets.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the funding you must be:

  • be aged 15 years or older
  • be no longer at school (with the exception of school students in Years 10, 11 and 12 undertaking a VET in School (VETiS) program — see the VETiS fact sheet for more information)
  • permanently reside in Queensland
  • be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen
  • not hold, and not be enrolled in, a certificate IV or higher-level qualification, not including qualifications completed at school and foundation skills training.

In addition to the standard eligibility requirements, specific restrictions and/or exemptions may apply to participation in certain subsidised qualifications. Any additional eligibility requirements will
be based on industry advice or requirements under the relevant national training package and will be detailed in the Queensland Training Subsidies List.

Benefits for the employer

Under the Australian Apprenticeships Incentives Program, employers offering skills-based training to employees may be eligible to receive funding from the Australian Government (eligibility criteria applies) to cover nationally recognised training costs.

  • we work closely with employers to provide opportunities for skills-based training

SERO has a successful school-based program working with small to medium businesses to provide one on one training for young school based apprentices and trainees, allowing students the opportunity to learn a trade while still at school.

Students may earn points towards their QCE (Queensland Certificate of Education).

The benefits to the student include building confidence in the workplace, building skills and knowledge specific to their industry and allowing students to earn an income while they learn a trade.
